Where did 2014 go? By Tony Ourris

It’s been a busy year at Anthony Webb Estate agents, we have branched out and opened a second office on Aldermans Hill, servicing Southgate & the Lakes Estate. Our magazine has gone on to prove itself as a readable local resource and we continue to receive positive feedback daily and hope to bring you more community news in 2015.
During 2014 the local property market has fluctuated from frantic sales activity in the first half to and a more considered and “normalised” market emerging in the second half of the year. Local property in Palmers Green, Southgate & Winchmore Hill continues to be in high demand and we have seen a real increase in property values throughout the year. The lettings market continues to be strong as North London is a popular destination for families with a great selection of local schools and parks on offer. Transport links are also convenient for professional looking to commute into town.
It is still uncertain as to when the Bank of England may raise its base rate of 0.5% and current thinking is that this may not happen until later in 2015. This is good news for people looking to sell their homes in 2015 and those looking to purchase, requiring a mortgage, as there are still plenty of good deals to be had from lenders.
Traditionally in December most people hold off their moving plans until the New Year, however it is proven on Rightmove and Zoopla that the period between Christmas and the New Year is the busiest time of the year. If you are thinking about moving or renting your property now would be a good time to call in the agent, get some advice and prepare your home to be marketed giving you the advantage of a quick sale in the New Year.
At Anthony Webb we try to keep you abreast of local market trends, local legislation and local news. Our ethos is supported by our free magazine and we thank the community for its support throughout 2014. We have some exciting new community projects planned for 2015 and we look forward to sharing these with you in our magazine.
The team at Anthony Webb and Palmers Green & Southgate LIFE wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
Happy Holidays
