Fox Lane and District Residents Association FLDRA by Philip Sheffield, Chair

7th August 2022

Fox Lane and District Residents Association FLDRA by Philip Sheffield, Chair Covering four wards including Palmers Green, Winchmore Hill, Arnos Grove and Southgate the FLDRA is a vibrant association that looks to support local residents and businesses.

We operate within the geographical borders of Green Lanes/ Aldermans Hill/ Bourne Hill/ Cannon Hill and the High Street up to Southgate. This includes the conservation area “The Lakes Estate”, roads off Fox Lane, the roads around Meadway right up to Southgate and Leigh Hunt Drive.

After a fairly controversial period in its history the association is looking forward to a close relationship with all its nine ward councillors to keep local issues genuinely transparent and to act as a conduit between residents and the Council. In addition it will be holding open events to further friendships and a sense of community.

Chair , Philip Sheffield says; “I came to this role as a result of a the controversy that surrounded the installation of LTNs in the Fox Lane area. It was clear to me that pressure groups such as the London Cycling Campaign and Better Streets for Enfield had the ear of the Council and were influencing policy in ways which did not represent all residents. Inside the FLDRA area there are many differing views about LTNs and many other issues and everyone has a right to be involved in important discussions affecting our lives. Now that the decision to keep the LTNs has been taken by the Council I call on all local residents to work together and unite our community. There is a pressing need for improvements in access for disabled residents and their carers and we are speaking with local politicians to drive change. We always welcome new members to be actively involved and encourage local people to support businesses and strive to improve this diverse and colourful part of London.”
